Marc's passion for yoga dates back to his childhood in 1968, and he has dedicated himself to studying and practising with renowned yoga teachers who have worked directly with Vanda Scaravelli, such as Diane Long and Sophy Hoare. He has also learned from highly respected osteopaths like Pete Blackaby and John Stirk, who have furthered the understanding of Scaravelli's work.
In addition to his extensive yoga training, Marc has explored and integrated other wellbeing practises into his teachings. These include Feldenkrais Qi Gong, Thai yoga massage, Tantra, and various meditative practises. This holistic approach allows Marc to provide a well-rounded experience for his students, helping them tap into their body's natural wisdom and potential.
Marc's journey towards developing his own unique approach began when he experienced a prolapsed disc during his training. Unable to walk, he relied on his innate somatic sense of structural relationships to alleviate the symptoms and restore function. Within a few weeks, he healed the prolapse for himself, inspiring him to help others using his method based on 'what actually works'.
In 2019/2020, Marc coined the term 'Enviro-Somatic' to describe his methodology. This approach recognises that a person's experience of themselves through the body is a direct reflection of how they physically respond to their environment. It takes into account their emotions, thoughts, beliefs, and other subtle aspects of their being. The Enviro-Somatic method allows individuals to deeply connect with their bodies and cultivate a pleasurable and well-led life.
