Beach, but at the local community centre. The name “Yoga According to the Tide” was born out of our experience of practising yoga in conjunction with the natural ebb and flow of the ocean. It symbolises our belief in aligning our practise with the rhythms of nature.
Frederique, the instructor behind “Yoga According to the Tide,” has a wealth of experience and knowledge. She is a recognised yoga teacher, having trained in both Thailand and Bali. Her teaching style is rooted in a philosophy of living a life free of judgement, filled with joy and gratitude. Frederique believes that these feelings should guide our practise and extend to every participant.
Living in New Zealand, surrounded by the beauty of nature, Frederique has found inspiration in the lessons it teaches. She has come to appreciate the chaos that often precedes beauty and understands that life's movement is both powerful and resilient. The constant interaction with the elements has taught her to open up to the unknown and trust in life's terms.
During the first lockdown in 2020, Frederique and her neighbours formed a close-knit community, practising yoga daily at the beach. This unique class, a blend of Tai Chi, Pilates, and Yoga, brought a sense of solidarity, pleasure, and progress to everyone involved. Frederique adapted the challenge to suit each participant's experience level and brought something new to each session, stimulating both body and mind.
As the weather turned colder, the group relocated to the warmer interior of the Point Chev Sailing Club. Although daily sessions became a bit more challenging to arrange, the group still meets three times a week, continuing their practise and maintaining their connexion.
” Yoga According to the Tide” encapsulates a unique approach to yoga, one that embraces the natural rhythms of life. It is a practise that not only provides physical benefits but also fosters a sense of community, joy, and personal growth. With Frederique's guidance and expertise, participants can expect to be uplifted, challenged, and inspired on their yoga journey.
