Point Chevalier Bowling Club

Point Chevalier Bowling Club, located in Auckland, is a vibrant and competitive club that offers a warm and welcoming community atmosphere. With a rich history dating back to 1913, the club has become a cherished institution in the Pt Chevalier area.

Originally, the land on which the club stands today was part of the Dignan family's estate. Over time, as the area developed, the land was sold for building sites. In 1921, Mr. Hallyburton Johnstone, a farmer from Ngatea, purchased the property and subdivided it, creating the foundation for the bowling club.

On August 11, 1927, a meeting was held, led by Mr. Hubert Buckley and Mr. Fred Dyson, with the support of city councillor Mr. M.

J. Coyle, to discuss the formation of a bowling club in the district. This meeting appointed Mr. Coyle and Mr.

F. G. Rose to approach Mr. Johnstone with the proposal for the bowling club.

Mr. Johnstone kindly agreed to lease the land to the club for a nominal rent, and thus, Point Chevalier Bowling Club was established.

Since its inception, the club has grown and thrived, becoming a focal point for both competitive bowls and social activities. The club offers a range of activities and events to cater to all interests and skill levels. The club boasts three top-quality greens where members can play and compete.
