The studio is operated by Freya Shaw, a yoga teacher with a background in gymnastics and dance. After discovering Vinyasa Flow yoga in her early 20s, she fell in love with the practise and its physical and mental benefits. Freya holds a 200-hour Vinyasa Flow teacher training certification, along with additional trainings in pregnancy & post-natal yoga, baby yoga, yoga nidra, mindfulness, restorative yoga, and children's yoga. She is also passionate about teaching yoga to individuals living with cancer at the Maggies cancer centre in Leeds.
The Yoga House's story is rooted in the personal experiences of Freya. Witnessing how yoga, tai chi, breathwork, and meditation reduced chronic pain within her family, she was inspired to open The Yoga House and bring these healing practises to others. With a desire to create a yoga community in East Leeds, she made it her mission to establish the studio in the Crossgates neighbourhood.
