Chess Club is a vibrant and friendly chess club located in Bournemouth, Dorset. The club offers a range of activities and events for chess enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels.
The club meets on Friday evenings at Tuckton Social Club, located at 222 Tuckton Road, Bournemouth, Dorset, BH6 3AA. The Junior's training session takes place from 6:00 pm to 7:15 pm, followed by Club and Match play from 7:15 pm to 10:30 pm.
In addition to the regular club meetings, Southbourne Chess Club also has a branch called Ludo Lounge Chess, which meets on Tuesday afternoons from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm at 34 Southbourne Grove, Bournemouth, BH6 3RA.
The club is proud to have five teams in the Bournemouth and District League, as well as one team in the B&DCL Team Handicap Knockout Cup. They are always open to welcoming new members, especially beginners who are looking to learn the game. Juniors are also welcome, as long as they are accompanied by a parent. The first week of joining the club is free, allowing new members to experience the friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Southbourne Chess Club also offers individual free coaching for juniors every Friday evening from 6 pm to 7:20 pm. This coaching session includes friendly games of chess, ladder competitions, endgame puzzles on the demo board, and refreshments such as biscuits and orange juice.
The club is actively involved in various competitions and leagues, such as The Bacchus League and the British Chess Championships. They also organise their own tournaments, including the Southbourne 100 Tournament, the Southbourne Christmastime Handicap Tournament, and the Southbourne Summer Fun Open Blitz Tournament.
