Welcome to the Ruapehu Ski Club | War Memorial Lodge (Whakapapa Ski Field), a premier ski club located in New Zealand's stunning Mount Ruapehu. With five generations of family memories and lifelong friendships, the club has been pioneering skiing in the region since 1913.

Accommodation at our club is a unique experience that offers you the opportunity to stay overnight on the slopes of Whakapapa ski field. Surrounded by freshly groomed trails, our two spacious mountain lodges provide a convenient and cosy base for your skiing adventures. Wake up to the pristine powder just outside your doorstep at 1,800 metres and enjoy a hearty breakfast prepared by our resident chefs.

With ski-in ski-out access, you can hit the slopes right from your lodge and return to a warming lunch and evening meal beside a roaring fire. Our club prides itself on its proximity to everything you need, ensuring a stress-free and enjoyable stay. Alternatively, you can choose to drive to our lodges in Whakapapa Village and Ohakune, which provide easy access to both sides of the mountain and a variety of off-mountain activities such as hiking, mountain biking, and trout fishing.

As the largest club on Mount Ruapehu, we are dedicated to providing the best experience for our members. We have four quality and warm lodges to decide from, offering a range of options for both winter and summer adventures. Our full-time team is readily available to assist with bookings and ensure that your stay with us is nothing short of excellent.

Each member contributes through rostered duties, which may include tasks such as vacuuming, food preparation, serving, or cleaning.

Our club is known for its ski and snowboard training squads, which cater to all ages and interests. The friendships formed on the slopes often last a lifetime, and our diverse range of squads ensures that there is something for everyone. We also offer popular school holiday programmes during the ski season, including training, races, games, and competitions that children absolutely love. Additionally, we are proud to provide a Swiss ski instructor who resides with us each season, offering members a level of instruction that is unmatched in New Zealand.
