The Alpine Sports Club Inc. (ASC) is a skiing/snowboarding, tramping, mountaineering, and outdoor recreation club located in Auckland, New Zealand. With a long-standing history and a strong community of members, ASC offers exciting activities and exclusive access to three huts during both the summer and winter seasons.
One of ASC's huts is the Waitakere Hut, situated in the scenic Waitakere Ranges, just an hour's drive from downtown Auckland. This well-appointed bush hut provides members with a comfortable and convenient base for exploring the surrounding natural beauty.
ASC's other two huts, the A-Frame and Ruapehu Hut, are perched high up on the ridges of Whakapapa Ski Field. These two ski huts offer breathtaking views and serve as the perfect accommodation for members during their winter skiing and snowboarding adventures.
The club's activities encompass a wide range of outdoor pursuits. Members can enjoy skiing/snowboarding at ASC's Ruapehu lodges during the winter months, as well as tramping and climbing trips throughout the year. ASC also offers rock climbing, indoor climbing, and mountaineering instruction for those looking to improve their skills. Additionally, the club provides bushcraft, mountain navigation, and trip planning instruction to ensure members have the knowledge and skills necessary for safe and enjoyable outdoor adventures.
ASC organises a variety of regular activities, including weekend and day tramping, midweek walks and tramps, veteran's activities, and camping trips for members and their families. The club also hosts monthly club nights, where members can come together for presentations, socialising, and community-building.
One of ASC's core values is inclusivity, catering to individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Families, in particular, are warmly welcomed and can take advantage of the family and children's activities/trips organised by the club.
