Mountain Yoga Kinlochleven, located in Glencoe and Fort William in the Highlands of Scotland, offers a unique and invigorating experience for yoga enthusiasts. Led by the knowledgeable and experienced yoga instructor, Penny, this yoga studio combines the practise of Zen Yoga with the beauty of mountain walking and wild swimming.
Penny, a true mountain yogi, has a deep passion for mountains, yoga, meditation, ice-climbing, hill running, Zen, dogs, mountain biking, and being outdoors. With over 30 years of yoga practise, Penny has studied various styles and traditions, including Hinduism, which she first encountered during her university studies. Her love for yoga, meditation, and climbing has been an integral part of her life, nurturing both her body and mind.
As a highly qualified teacher, Penny holds a BWY Foundation Certificate in Yoga and a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in Zen Yoga from the British Wheel of Yoga. She is registered as an RTY200 with Yoga Alliance and has furthered her yoga journey with the Seasonal Yoga Academy, earning an Advanced Seasonal Masters Certificate. Additionally, Penny is a trained Meditation and Mindfulness Teacher and a Junior Zen Teacher under the guidance of Zen Master Julian Daizan Skinner.
Penny's expertise extends beyond yoga, as she is also a qualified Mountain Leader and holds a BASP Emergency Outdoor First Aid Certificate. She is a member of the Mountain Training Association and a fully insured STA Open Water Swim Coach. Her passion for wild swimming is evident, and she loves guiding others through this exhilarating experience.
In partnership with Wild Yoga Glencoe, Penny offers a range of day, overnight, and weekend retreats that take participants through the seasons, providing a unique and transformative experience. These retreats provide an opportunity to connect with nature, deepen one's practise, and find inner peace and balance.
Mountain Yoga Kinlochleven offers weekly classes for all levels of experience. The Tuesday Zen Yoga class provides challenge options and sustained sequences that align with the energy of the season, perfect for those looking for a more energising practise. The Wednesday Relaxing Zen Flow class offers a slower pace, making it ideal for beginners or anyone seeking a more restorative and relaxing yoga practise.
Regardless of age, anyone is welcome to join the classes. Comfortable, movable clothing is recommended, and participants need only a mat and a cushion or folded blanket for online classes. For those unsure which class is the right fit, Penny is readily available to answer any questions and provide guidance.
In addition to weekly classes, Mountain Yoga Kinlochleven hosts various events throughout the year. The New Year Seasonal Yoga Morning with Wild Yoga Glencoe and the New Year Blue Mind Swim with Off Beat Bikes are just two examples of the exciting opportunities to further deepen one's yoga practise and connect with nature.
Mountain Yoga Kinlochleven, driven by the passion and expertise of Penny, provides a holistic approach to wellness that combines the benefits of yoga, meditation, and outdoor activities. Whether practising on the mat or exploring the surrounding beauty of the Scottish Highlands, participants can experience a transformative journey towards wellbeing and mindfulness.
