Tori's journey with yoga began as a teenager when she started practising as a warm-up for her ballet classes. Over the years, she tried various yoga classes but struggled to find a space that felt completely beginner-friendly while staying true to the authentic principles of traditional yoga. This motivated her to study Traditional Hatha Yoga in the Himalayas of India and Nepal in 2013 and 2014, where she developed a deeper appreciation for a holistic approach to health and well-being.
With a focus on clean eating, mindfulness, and meditation, along with her physical yoga practise, Tori experienced a significant improvement in her overall outlook on life. Now, her aim as a yoga instructor is to offer a safe, non-judgmental, and encouraging environment for her students to cultivate gratitude and love for themselves and others. She wishes to share her knowledge in an accessible way, helping others improve their physical and emotional well-being.
Tori's qualifications include a 200hr Yoga Alliance Teaching Certification from Bhakti Yogshala, Rishikesh, India, which focused on correct asana alignment and anatomy. This foundation allows her to help students with physical injuries and chronic conditions through movement. She also holds a 500hr Yoga Alliance Advanced Teaching Certification from Guruji A L V Kumar of Traditional Yoga & The Yoga Healing Foundation of India. This advanced course provided her with a deeper understanding of Yogic Philosophy, including the importance of using Ayurvedic nutrition and Shat Kriya cleansing for holistic health.
In addition to teaching advanced asana and pranayama, Tori incorporates mantra, pranayama, and meditation techniques into her beginner classes. She has learned from esteemed teachers such as BKS Iyengar, Pattabhi Jois, and Desikachar. Tori's knowledge of Vedic teachings allows her to guide her students towards breaking away from conditioning and embracing a mindset of pure love and acceptance.
Tori's current class schedule includes options for single classes or monthly block bookings. She offers classes in various locations including Birstall, Braunstone, and Glenfield, with different time slots to accommodate different schedules. All of her classes run for approximately one hour and follow a similar structure with slight variations, including pranayama, mantra chanting, seated and standing asanas (static poses), and guided meditation.
