Yoga Therapy Auckland, led by Barbara Coley, offers a specialised Yoga Therapy Programme catering to individuals suffering from chronic fatigue, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, burnout, chronic stress, and other related conditions. This programme provides a gentle and safe environment for those who may find traditional yoga classes overwhelming or too intense.
The 6-week programme focuses on helping participants develop a positive relationship with their bodies and themselves through gentle movement, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques. Informed by modern science and rooted in traditional yoga, the programme aims to restore energy, balance, and resilience to individuals seeking to enhance their well-being.
Regardless of previous yoga experience, both beginners and those with prior experience can benefit from the programme. Classes are 90 minutes long and consist of discussions, practise, and a time for questions and answers. Participants will also receive simple practises and tools for home use to reinforce their learning and provide continued symptom relief.
Barbara ensures that each programme is limited to 5 participants in order to provide individual care and modifications when necessary. The classes are inclusive, and all individuals are welcome regardless of their yoga experience or any preconceived notions of what a yoga practitioner should look like.
Barbara Coley, C-IAYT, RYT-500, brings over 25 years of yoga practise and 12 years of teaching experience to Yoga Therapy Auckland. She has deepened her understanding of yoga through her studies with her own teachers and mentors, A. G. Mohan and Indra Mohan.
Barbara is a certified Yoga Therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) and Yoga Australia.
Aside from her work at Yoga Therapy Auckland, Barbara works one-on-one with students to improve their physical and emotional health. She also teaches yoga therapy classes for small groups facing similar health challenges. Additionally, Barbara presents workshops and Professional Development programmes in yoga therapeutics.
