True Pilates NZ is a Pilates studio and wellness centre located in the vibrant neighbourhood of Grey Lynn in Auckland. Helmed by the highly trained and US-certified instructor Helen Leahy, True Pilates offers a boutique and personalised approach to Pilates, aiming to inspire individuals to live healthier lifestyles.

At True Pilates, the focus is on teaching the Authentic Method of Pilates, as originally developed by Joseph Pilates himself. The studio prides itself on providing individual lessons, although duet and group sessions are also available. The emphasis is on private and professional instruction, creating a bespoke and boutique experience for each client.

Helen Leahy, the founder and director of True Pilates, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the studio. With a childhood spent studying ballet technique, Helen was naturally drawn to the graceful stretching and body movement of Pilates. She became a fully certified Authentic Pilates Method instructor in 2006 after completing the rigorous Pilates Instructor Apprenticeship in New York under the guidance of Master Teachers Romana Kryzanowska and Sari Mejia Santo. Helen has since become a sought-after teacher, known for her personalised sessions and flawless technical skills.

The team at True Pilates also includes Therese James and Carla, both dedicated and experienced Pilates instructors. Therese discovered the benefits of Pilates through her own practise and now holds Pilates and fitness qualifications from esteemed institutions such as the Pilates International Training Centre (PITC) Australia and The Centre for Womens Fitness USA. She has a particular interest in Pilates for womens health, including pre and post-natal benefits and Pilates for the ageing population. Carla, on the other hand, has a background in dance and became a certified STOTT Pilates Instructor in 2012.

She has extensive experience teaching Pilates for rehabilitation and has recently joined True Pilates after relocating to New Zealand.
