Yoga Teacher Devon, also known as Steve Jamison, is a highly experienced yoga instructor based in South Brent. Accredited by the Yoga Alliance and the British Wheel of Yoga, Steve offers one-on-one classes, yoga therapy, small group sessions, and retreats both in Devon and at his yoga retreat centre in Portugal.
With a focus on personalised attention and individualised practises, Steve believes that yoga is for everyone, regardless of their experience or abilities. He has had the privilege of teaching a diverse range of people, from veterinary surgeons to yoga teachers to busy mothers, and has seen firsthand the transformative power of yogic practises and techniques.
At his retreat centre in South Brent, participants have the option of staying on-site, which provides a peaceful and serene environment for deepening their yoga practise. For those who prefer to stay elsewhere, there is additional accommodation available in the nearby village of South Brent or in Totnes.
Steve emphasises the importance of connecting with nature and encourages his students to embrace the natural world. He believes that practising yoga in nature helps to cultivate a deeper sense of connexion and allows individuals to feel grounded and rooted in the Earth.
In addition to his yoga teaching, Steve has recently written a book called “A Dog Called Buddha. ” The book shares his personal story of evacuating his home in Portugal during wildfires, accompanied by four rescued dogs. Yoga practise played a significant role in helping him stay calm and focused during this challenging journey. People have found the book captivating for its themes of nature, animals, wildfires, and yoga.
The name “Yoga Beetle” is inspired by Steve's belief that humans are deeply interconnected with nature, just like beetles. Beetles symbolise the need to tread lightly on Earth and to persevere, finding alternative ways when faced with obstacles. Steve also has a fondness for the late Beatle George Harrison, who shared his love for Paramahansa Yogananda and his book “Autobiography of a Yogi,” which originally sparked Steve's interest in yoga.
As a yoga teacher, Steve believes in the power of simplicity and the importance of focusing on the breath and letting go. He knows that even a short practise can have a profound impact on the mind and body. Through small group sessions or one-on-one classes, Steve strives to help each person find a practise that is truly beneficial and meaningful to them.
Whether you are seeking physical flexibility or a deeper understanding of yoga's true essence, Yoga Teacher Devon is dedicated to guiding you on your own unique yoga journey.
