Yarra Valley Yoga School, located in Healesville, is a serene and welcoming yoga studio founded and run by Libby. Libby's journey in yoga began over 30 years ago, and she has since dedicated herself to studying and practising this ancient discipline. Overcoming her own health challenges, including spinal fragility, she discovered the transformative power of yoga and decided to share her knowledge with others. Libby believes that yoga can be particularly beneficial for individuals with ill health and invites everyone, regardless of their experience, to consider becoming a yoga teacher.
One of the flagship programmes at Yarra Valley Yoga School is the Hatha Yoga Therapy Teacher Training Certificate Course. This comprehensive course spans over four months and consists of eight modules. Each module is taught in a three-hour class, held every fortnight on Sundays from 11am to 2pm. To accommodate different learning styles and schedules, all classes are recorded and made available for students to study and reference at their own pace.
Additionally, each module includes take-home information on various yoga subjects and a questionnaire for students to complete before the next class.
The eight modules cover a diverse range of topics, including seated postures, twists, kneeling and standing postures, gentle semi-inversions, supine postures, tummy postures, neck work, shavasana, Yoga Nidra, meditation, and breathwork. The course also delves into subjects such as the 8 limbs of yoga, the chakra system, Chakra Mantra, Meridian yoga, and marketing and promotion for successful small businesses. The final module of the course culminates in a practise class, where students have the opportunity to teach selected postures to their peers and receive valuable feedback.
Upon successful completion of the course, students are awarded a professionally printed Hatha Yoga Therapy Certificate. This certificate, personally designed by Libby, is both beautiful and deserving of being framed. Students have the option to receive their certificate via snail mail or pick it up in person if they are local to the area.
Yarra Valley Yoga School is committed to making their programmes accessible to all, and pensioners may be eligible for negotiable rates. Payment plans are also available through a binding direct debit arrangement. To indicate their commitment, prospective students are required to make a deposit of $400. 00.
Additionally, Yarra Valley Yoga School offers a range of other classes, including Friday Yoga sessions that continue over the holidays, Mum & Bub Gentle Yoga classes starting in January, and private classes for personalised instruction. All classes are open to individuals of any experience level, and no prior experience is necessary. The drop-in rate for regular weekly classes is $20. 00.
