Champions League Basketball launched back in 2014 with its very first 3x3 tournament across the Anzac Day weekend in Canberra. From humble beginnings, using chalk to mark the lines on the concrete, surrounded by funky shipping containers covered in graffiti and a lot of very talented players, the 3X3 event concept of CLB3X3 was born.
Since then the Executive team has harnessed support from all levels of the Basketball community and has been overwhelmed by the positive encouragement, comments and commitment from the governing body - FIBA, right down to the junior grass roots level including councils and corporate partners.
CLB focusses on providing as many cost effective opportunities as possible for young players to be active and involved in the sport of 3X3. From skills and drills to school holiday programs & FIBA Endorsed Competitions, boys & girls from as young as 8 years old can enjoy active, safe & friendly environments in which they will learn and harness leadership, team building & co-ordination skills, make friends and create lifelong memories.
3X3 has been known to enhance a players 5on5 game and also act as a great cardio workout. We encourage all skill levels and abilities & we are happy to answer any questions from teachers, parents, communities, clubs & associations.
Champions League Basketball, CLB3X3's operational company looks after each of their official 3X3 Clubs which consist of Junior players right through to the Elite level in all states and many regional areas around Australia.
Champions League Basketball has a big vision, one part of that vision is to create a sustainable, professional and well run National League for 3x3.
A couple of their highlights was seeing their Townsville Suns Elite team make it to Mongolia for an offical FIBA3X3 Challenger back in 2017 and also giving a number of the Australian 3x3 team members their first opportunity to play the sport.
This game is for everyone and contrary to the many suggested pathways out there, the unique and offical FIBA3X3 model allows all players to play in any FIBA Endorsed event, earn points for their country and go on to potentially play overseas for their city, their country then onto World Challengers and eventually the World Tour Masters.
