Wolsingham Bowling Club, located in Bishop Auckland, is a vibrant and welcoming club with a rich history dating back to 1989. Situated in the Recreation Ground, just half a mile west of the Market Place on the A689, the club boasts a picturesque setting that adds to the enjoyment of the sport.

Managed by its dedicated members, Wolsingham Bowling Club not only looks after the pristine green but also tends to the beautiful surrounding gardens. The green, generously funded by Joe Johnson, is open to both members of the club and the public, allowing everyone to experience the thrill and camaraderie of bowling.

The green is open for play from Sunday to Friday, between 2. 00pm and 4. 00pm. For those who prefer evening sessions, the club accommodates requests upon contacting the secretary.

Non-members can take advantage of the club's offer to provide sets of woods as part of the green fee, ensuring that everyone has a chance to enjoy the game.

Wolsingham Bowling Club takes part in three bowling leagues, showcasing the club's commitment to competitive play. A team of twelve competes in the South West Durham League on Monday evenings, while the Durham & District League is the club's focus on Saturdays. Additionally, the SW Durham Veteran's League brings together three rinks of three players on Wednesday afternoons, catering specifically to members above the age of 55.

The club's calendar is packed with club competitions throughout the season, offering opportunities for all members to showcase their skills and compete for glory.
