The Everlasting Gym – Ultimate Geelong Muay Thai is a welcoming and inclusive martial arts school located in South Geelong. It was established in 2003 and has since become Geelong's longest running Muay Thai School. The gym caters to individuals of all shapes, sizes, and skill levels, offering classes for novices, fitness enthusiasts, and those looking to cross-train from other styles.
The trainers at The Everlasting Gym understand that not everyone wants to be a fighter, so they provide a supportive and inclusive environment for those who simply want to learn Muay Thai for self-defence or to get fit and lose weight. The gym's fight team and advanced students train at different times but are always available to offer help and advice to everyone.
Sparring classes are available to all students and are mandatory for those who wish to compete in Muay Thai, whether it be in interclub sparring events or amateur/professional ring fights. Muay Thai provides a fantastic workout, with classes typically including a warm-up followed by practising the 8 body weapon techniques. This leads to an explosive pad session where students learn and string together punch, kick, knee, and elbow combinations.
The syllabus at Ultimate Geelong Muay Thai has been structured to provide a gradual progression through the 5 colour singlets, such as yellow, green, blue, and brown, before students can obtain their black singlet. However, the grading system is not compulsory, allowing individuals to train without the pressure of progressing through ranks if they choose.
In addition to self-defence, the training system at The Everlasting Gym encourages many to take on their training for the purpose of competition. The skills training focuses on the unique footwork and explosive power of Muay Thai. The gym is registered with The World Muay Thai Council (WMC) and The World Kickboxing Association (WKA), ensuring that students receive quality training.
