Tree Kids Yoga is a serene and inviting yoga studio located in West End, Brisbane, offering yoga and mindfulness classes specifically designed for children aged 4 to 15 years. The studio also provides family classes, promoting a shared experience for parents and children.
The classes at Tree Kids Yoga aim to provide children and teens with a variety of benefits. Through regular practise, participants can develop physical strength, coordination, and balance. Furthermore, yoga helps to enhance focus, concentration, and boosts confidence and self-esteem. It also offers a deeper understanding of emotions and fosters empathy and compassion for oneself and others.
Moreover, yoga provides valuable tools to cope with stress and anxiety, promoting overall well-being.
The classes at Tree Kids Yoga are thoughtfully adapted for different age groups, recognising that their needs and interests may vary. Junior classes are filled with fun music, songs, and yoga stories to engage young children. Primary school-aged classes offer a balance between formal yoga practise and enjoyable activities like games and partner yoga. For teens, classes challenge students to master different poses and encourage a deeper engagement with yoga and meditation.
Additionally, family yoga classes focus on strengthening the bond between parents and children.
At Tree Kids Yoga, the ethos of connexion to the natural environment is strongly emphasised. The name “tree” in Tree Kids Yoga is inspired by the beloved tree pose and represents the belief that children should be connected with nature. With this in mind, the studio models eco-friendly practises and incorporates natural and sustainable materials wherever possible.
In addition to regular classes, Tree Kids Yoga also offers school holiday workshops. These workshops provide an opportunity for children aged 7 to 14 years to delve deeper into yoga and mindfulness. Taught by qualified Children's Yoga Teacher Lucy O'Brien, the workshops cover mindful meditations, yoga asanas and sequences, learning the names of yoga poses, and engaging in fun yoga group games. The workshops are suitable for all levels, including beginners.
Lucy O'Brien, the founder and teacher at Tree Kids Yoga, is a qualified Children's Yoga Teacher registered with Yoga Alliance Australia.
