Welcome to Japan Karate Association (JKA) Shotokan at Indooroopilly, a top sports and martial arts school dedicated to empowering individuals through self-defence training. With a team of qualified instructors boasting 35 years of experience in teaching shotokan karate, we offer traditional martial arts classes designed to enhance both the body and mind.
Our modern studio is conveniently located at the Holy Family Church Hall in Indooroopilly. Situated close to public transport options, and with ample parking available, accessing our facilities is easy and convenient for students of all ages and abilities.
At Japan Karate Association (JKA) Shotokan at Indooroopilly, our philosophy is centred on cultivating the body, mind, and spirit through rigorous karate training. We believe that by honing their physical skills and mental discipline, students can develop self-confidence and gain a deeper understanding of themselves.
In our weekly classes, we offer a range of options to suit different levels and interests. Our Saturday combination class is open to all levels and covers a mix of basics, kumite (sparring), and kata (forms). Held from 9am-10:30am, it provides a comprehensive training session for students seeking a well-rounded martial arts experience.
Our Tuesday combination class focuses on kumite and runs from 6:00pm-7:30pm. This class is ideal for students looking to improve their sparring skills and engage in dynamic partner training.
On Thursdays, we offer a combination class with a focus on kata training and self-defence applications. From 6:00pm-7:30pm, students can refine their techniques and learn practical self-defence strategies.

We are open for classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm-7:30pm and on Saturdays from 9am-10:30am. Please note that we are closed on Sundays.
