The Tin Can Bay Fishing Club, also known as TCBFC, has a rich history that dates back to its establishment in 1998. What started with just eight members has now transformed into a thriving community of 135 active members. The club boasts a diverse membership base, comprising individuals from various age groups, ranging from children to retirees.

One of the club's primary objectives is to ensure the sustainability and management of fish stocks. They actively engage in measures to protect and improve the marine environment while supporting local businesses that share the same commitment to sustainability. Additionally, the club encourages a responsible approach to fishing, emphasising the practise of keeping only enough fish for a feed. The club has also made significant strides in improving its physical infrastructure over the years. In 2014, the Gympie Regional Council provided the club with a lease on a 1730 square metre block of land at 33 Dolphin Avenue. Subsequently, the club built a 10m × 7m Colourbond Building, which serves as its clubhouse. An amenities block was constructed and commissioned in 2016, followed by the completion of a Colourbond Storage Shed in 2018 to secure various equipment.
Extensive landscaping was carried out, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the surrounding area. Grant funding in 2019 helped upgrade the club grounds and facilities, showcasing the dedication of the hard-working members. The club continued its progress with grant funding in 2020, focusing on enhancing security, the club grounds, and the clubhouse.
2021 brought further improvements, with the installation of a kitchen in the main building. The clubhouse now boasts both electricity and solar panels, emphasising sustainability. Additionally, the club successfully completed the construction of an outdoor meeting and BBQ area, providing a social and training hub for various events.
