Welcome to Southland Surf School, located in Riverton/Aparima, Southland. If you've ever dreamed of learning to surf or stand-up paddleboard, this is your opportunity to do so in a fun and safe environment.
At Southland Surf School, all equipment is provided, including a selection of surfboards and stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) suitable for beginners to elite riders. We also offer 4/3 wetsuits and booties to keep you warm in the water. Even if you don't require lessons, our equipment is available for hire.
Our surf school caters to individuals of all ages and groups, such as school camps or birthday parties. We believe that everyone should have the chance to experience the thrill of riding a wave.
One of the unique aspects of Southland Surf School is our mobility. We choose the best surfing locations based on the weather, swell size, wind, and tides on the day. Our usual locations include Riverton Rocks, Colac Bay, and Orepuki. This flexibility allows us to provide the best possible surfing experience for our students.
Leading our team is Jess Terrill, a former New Zealand Women's Surfing Champion and an accredited International Surfing Association (ISA) Level 2 Surf Instructor. With Jess's expertise and passion for surfing, you can be confident that you are learning from the best.
