Muay Thai, also known as Thai Boxing, is an ancient fighting system from Thailand. Students at SO8 learn the art of using hands, elbows, knees, and legs in combat, as well as clinch and throw/sweep techniques. The name SO8, or Science of Eight, refers to the eight parts of the body used in Muay Thai: two hands, two elbows, two knees, and two feet/legs.
SO8 Gym caters to students of all ages, who train in Muay Thai for various reasons. The sport offers excellent fitness, flexibility, confidence-building, and practical self-protection skills. Students also have the opportunity to compete at semi-contact or full-contact levels. Additionally, the gym offers fitness classes and realistic self-protection (self-defence) training.

At SO8, everyone receives a warm and friendly welcome. Adult classes are open to individuals aged fourteen and above and are suitable for any fitness level. Juniors have separate training sessions starting from age six. The gym is committed to a strict no bullying or inflated egos policy, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all members.
The team at SO8 consists of experienced and dedicated instructors. Ian Davies, the founder and chief instructor of SO8, began his Muay Thai journey in 1986. Despite a brief hiatus due to a lack of training facilities in Cornwall, he established Sitnarong Falmouth in 1992 with the blessings of Master Sken. Ian has had the privilege of training under esteemed teachers such as Master Sken & Master Bob, Master Pimu, and Kru Sandy Holt.
