Royal Greenwich Fencing Club invites players from the Greenwich, Lewisham, and Bexley areas to explore the art of fencing. Located in South East London, this club offers sabre, epee, and foil lessons, catering to fencers aged seven to sixty-five. Everyone is welcome to try fencing or refine their skills in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
Paula Lewis, the organiser, has set up various courses for both adults and juniors. Adult beginners can join taster sessions or a 10-week course, with all gear provided. Note, there are only six spots available for the adult beginner course, so early booking is recommended. Junior beginners (aged 7 to 15) also have weekly sessions available with provided equipment.
Attendance is by prior arrangement, allowing participants to fence at their own speed. Whether you're a novice or an experienced fencer, Paula ensures the club provides an environment for everyone to enjoy and compete. Members can look forward to fun and challenging matches.
As a non-profit, community club, Royal Greenwich aims to make fencing accessible while promoting this Olympic sport. Affiliated with the British Fencing Association (BFA), all coaches hold BFA qualifications and insurance coverage. Fees include the use of basic and electric fencing gear until members buy their own, with discounts for adult concessions and junior siblings.
Paula also invites members to explore the Woolwich Photographic Society's stunning action shots of the club, taken by Aperture.
Those interested in joining or seeking more information can reach out via email at [email protected]. Paula Lewis looks forward to welcoming new members and sharing the excitement of fencing within the London community.
