The Pete White Memorial Calderdale Way Relay, hosted by Halifax Harriers, is an amateur off-road relay race happening on the 19th of May 2024. It's a special event that pays tribute to Pete White, the race director who started it all nearly four decades ago. This year, chip timing will be introduced for the first time, adding a new element of competition.
Starting at Clay House and finishing at the Halifax Harriers HQ at Spring Hall, this race is open to teams with runners aged 18 and above, except for Leg 3 where participants must be at least 16 years old. Veterans can join in starting from the over 40 category for both men and women. It's important to follow FRA rules and wear the full mandatory kit on specific legs, and don't forget your club colors!
Teams interested in joining should act fast as there's a limit of 100 teams accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The entry fee is £120 per team, with the deadline for entries set for the 5th of May 2024. Exciting bonus prizes totaling £1,800 are available for teams or pairs that break records, with an additional £100 bonus for pairs achieving target times for individual legs.
For teams needing overnight accommodations, a free campsite is offered at the Causeway Foot Inn. For more information and to register, check out the link provided. Get ready for a day of thrilling relay racing and camaraderie at the Pete White Memorial Calderdale Way Relay!
