First Grand Master Rhee Ki Ha, who became my mentor and career-long instructor. I am honoured to be the first student in the United Kingdom to be promoted to 9th Dan Grand Master.
For over 40 years, I have dedicated myself to studying and teaching the authentic ITF Taekwon-Do as formulated by Taekwon-Do's founder, the late General Choi Hong Hi. I believe that Taekwon-Do is not just about physical movements but also about its beliefs, customs, culture, method, and ideology. Without understanding and embracing these aspects, Taekwon-Do's true identity would be lost.
Throughout my journey, I have attended over 30 international courses with General Choi Hong Hi and had the privilege of personally assisting him on seminars in Europe and Australia. I have been honoured and recognised as the best instructor in Britain by General Choi Hong Hi himself on several occasions, and I received the outstanding instructor award in 1995.
At the Paul Cutler Taekwon-Do Academy, we believe that there are no short cuts to achievement. We value hard work, perseverance, and dedication. Our training sessions are intense and disciplined, pushing students to their limits. We emphasise mental training to prevent the misuse of Taekwon-Do and to develop a strong sense of justice, fortitude, humility, and resolve.
Taekwon-Do provides numerous benefits beyond self-defence. Our training methods improve strength, flexibility, and balance. Through deep stretching and conditioning, we tone and build long, lean muscles without bulk. We also challenge the deep abdominal muscles, promoting core stability.
Taekwon-Do training reduces stress, boosts energy levels, and enhances body awareness.
I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and experience with others who are willing to commit themselves to this martial art. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, I invite you to join the Paul Cutler Taekwon-Do Academy and discover the power and beauty of this ancient martial art.

Taekwon-Do is an art of self-defence founded by a Korean General named Choi Hong Hi. General Choi devoted years of research, development, and experimentation to proclaim Taekwon-Do as a valid and unique martial art with Korean origins in 1955. The name “Taekwon-Do” can be translated as the art of jumping or flying, using the feet to kick or smash and employing the fists to punch or destroy. The “Do” in Taekwon-Do represents the art or way, the right path paved by the saints and sages of the past.
