Sunreef Mooloolaba, the local freediving club in Sunshine Coast, is excited to invite all interested players to a thrilling event at Nurse Rock. Formerly known as Wobby Rock, Nurse Rock is one of Australia's newest Grey Nurse Shark Aggregations and promises an unforgettable diving experience.
Situated on the picturesque Sunshine Coast, this reef dive offers exceptional diving opportunities throughout the year, boasting incredible visibility that will leave divers in awe. The underwater topography at Nurse Rock features stunning boulders at depths ranging from 14 to 22 meters. Explorers of the deep can venture through small swim-throughs and witness the mesmerising presence of wobbegong sharks during the summer and Grey Nurse Sharks during the winter.
Prepare to be captivated by the vibrant marine life encounters that await you at Nurse Rock. Dive alongside schools of surgeon fish, glide alongside graceful turtles and rays, marvel at the mesmerising movements of cuttlefish and eels, and be treated to the kaleidoscope of colours presented by tropical reef fish. If you're lucky enough to join us during the cooler months, keep your eyes peeled for migrating Humpback Whales and listen in awe as they serenade us with their enchanting songs.
The check-in process for this extraordinary event begins at the specified time, ensuring that all divers have ample opportunity to organise their gear. Our highly trained crew will provide a comprehensive briefing before setting off to the dive site, which is conveniently just a 15-minute boat ride away. Each dive is planned for an exhilarating 50 minutes or until your air supply reaches 50 bar, ensuring maximum enjoyment of the underwater wonders that Nurse Rock has to offer.
During the surface interval between dives, we provide a refreshing break where you can indulge in snacks and water. Feel free to bring along your own snacks if you prefer. Upon returning to the shop, we will gladly assist in unloading and washing your gear upon request, ensuring a hassle-free experience for all participants.
Please note that the confirmation of this event depends on sea conditions and weather, guaranteeing the utmost safety and enjoyment for divers. It is important to mention that individuals who haven't dived in the last 2 years must complete a refresher course to participate. Our dedicated crew will be on hand to assist with any seasickness or equalisation issues that may arise during the event. However, kindly note that rebookings or refunds will not be issued for these reasons. To minimise the risk of seasickness, we recommend taking seasickness tablets in advance.
Divers who encounter difficulty equalising will be carefully brought back to the surface and may have the opportunity to attempt the second dive. We encourage divers who have their own equipment to bring it along, as it allows for optimal comfort and familiarity during the event.
