Failures or any potential issues, allowing for quick intervention and maintenance. The pools are regularly monitored and tested to ensure they meet the highest standards of water quality and safety.
At Mount Hot Pools, they believe in providing a holistic experience for their guests. In addition to the rejuvenating benefits of their natural ocean water pools, they offer a range of massage therapies performed by their friendly and experienced therapists. Massage is no longer seen as a luxury, but rather a critical component in achieving overall wellbeing and mental wellness.
The facility boasts three outdoor pools of varying temperatures, including a relaxation pool for soaking, a hydrotherapy pool for swimming, walking, and play, and a children's pool for the little ones to enjoy. This allows them to cater to a diverse range of families and individuals throughout the year.
The pools at Mount Hot Pools are filled with natural ocean water that contains added chlorine to meet national pool quality standards. The water is infused with natural salts that restore mineral balance through the skin, making saltwater bathing the basis of many therapeutic treatments.
The temperatures of the pools range from 27 to 40 Celsius, ensuring that guests can enjoy the warmth and relaxation regardless of the weather outside. Patrons often attest to a sense of wellbeing and relaxation after a soak at Mount Hot Pools. To enhance the experience, guests can also indulge in a relaxing massage onsite.
In terms of the heating system, the hot ocean water pools at Mount Hot Pools are truly unique. The water is heated up to 40 Celsius using a non-corrosive titanium heat exchange system. The ocean water is pumped from nearby Pilot Bay and passes through a filtration system before heating. The heat exchange occurs when the ocean water and hot bore water pass through titanium exchangers in separate channels.
The hot bore water originates from underground saltwater streams that are 600m deep under Mount Maunganui. These streams are heated by hot rock crusts generated by geothermal activity in Rotorua, located 70 km south.
To ensure optimum pool water quality and energy efficiency, the facility utilises an automated plant room control system. This system allows for cheaper running costs and energy efficiency while maintaining the highest water quality and safety standards. Plant room failures and potential issues are monitored through mobile phone alerts, enabling quick intervention and maintenance.
