Established in 1970, our club was founded with the goal of teaching self-defence to a wider audience. Over the years, we have grown to provide all levels of coaching, from pre-school to championship level, for everyone. We pride ourselves on our inclusive and welcoming environment, where anyone who wants to learn karate is encouraged to join our classes.
At Meadowbank Karate Group, we understand that learning karate goes beyond physical training. It has been proven to increase confidence, which can be carried through to other aspects of life. Our experienced team of instructors is dedicated to providing quality coaching and support to help our members reach their full potential.
Our current team of instructors is led by Hamish Adam, Steven Adam, and Richard Bradley. All of our coaches are qualified, insured, and recognised through Sport Scotland and the Scottish Karate Governing Body. They have extensive experience in both competition and coaching, ensuring that our members receive the best training possible.
Steven Adam, a 6th Dan black belt, started karate at the age of five and has been training for over 25 years. He has represented Scotland in various international competitions and has won multiple titles, including Scottish, British, and European champion. Steven is also the Scottish Karate Federation's under 21 years Kumite coach.
Richard Bradley, a 4th Dan black belt, began his karate journey with the Scottish Karate Federation in 1975. He has successfully competed in both Kata and Kumite locally and nationally. Richard's focus is now on coaching the next generation, helping them develop and achieve their goals.
