Lake Manchester Trails, a Trail Running Association of Queensland club in Lake Manchester, is excited to invite participants to their upcoming local Trail Running event. The event features a range of race options suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Kids can take part in the 1 km Kids Dash, while adults can choose from 5 km, 10 km, or the more challenging 23 km run. The event will take place on Sunday, 18 August 2024 (TBC) at Lake Manchester, QLD 4306.
Participants can look forward to enjoying the stunning views of Lake Manchester while pushing themselves on the various courses. Race photos will be available for viewing on Joep Buijs Photography's Facebook page. Registration is mandatory and should be completed online.
Entry fees vary depending on the race category and membership status. From A$10.50 for the Kids Dash to A$85.00 for the 23 km run, there is a fee suitable for everyone. Check-in times and race briefings will be provided for each race category, with presentation times to be announced closer to the event.
Hydration and nutrition are key during the race, so participants are encouraged to bring their own reusable cups, bottles, or mugs as part of the event's no-disposable-cups policy. Water stations will be available along the courses to ensure participants stay hydrated.
After completing the race, participants can treat themselves to coffee from Rachid, a trusted coffee vendor. Free sausage sizzles and coffee will be on offer to celebrate the finish line. Soft drinks, fruit, water, and electrolytes will also be available for replenishment.
For those travelling from Brisbane, simply take the Western Freeway from Mt Cootha and follow the signs to Lake Manchester Road. Parking is conveniently located 300m past the Lake Manchester Reserve entrance.
Detailed course information, including maps, can be found on the website. The 23 km course will take participants around the dam, along the lake's west side, and through a loop at the far end of the lake. The 10 km route is similar but turns back at the log cabin. The 5 km course goes past the dam, around the west side of the lake, and then onto a grassed track around the headland. Details for the 1 km Kids Dash course will be revealed during the race briefing.
Course marshals and checkpoints will be available to assist and provide water along the routes. Marathoners will have five water stations, while 10 km runners will have one. Bringing a reusable water container is encouraged to reduce waste.
