Our club has a rich history, dating back to its formation in 1905. Located within the picturesque Kings Park, which was purchased from Sir George Meyrick for 65 per acre by the Bournemouth Corporation, our club has been a hub for sports activities in the Bournemouth area for over a century. Situated next to the stadium where AFC Bournemouth plays, we are in the heart of the action.
The bowling green itself was opened in 1905 and has been a fixture in the local league structures ever since. We take pride in being a dynamic and forward-thinking club, constantly striving to improve and attract new members. Our diverse membership includes people of all ages and backgrounds, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment.
During the season, from April to the end of September, our club is open to the public from 10am daily. However, this is subject to weather conditions and the discretion of our Green-keeper. We have flexible closing times after 6pm, ensuring that bowlers can enjoy their game until 9pm if there is demand.
The picturesque green features six rinks, which can accommodate up to 48 players. In addition to our excellent sporting facilities, we also offer a range of social features. Our clubhouse boasts a fully licenced bar and barbecue, perfect for relaxing and socialising after a game. We can also host significant events and functions, so please get in touch if you are interested in hiring our clubhouse and bar.
We warmly welcome touring teams and have established ourselves as a popular venue for bowling tours. Priced at 20 per rink, which includes tea and biscuits, we guarantee a warm welcome and a fun day out. Many touring clubs return to us year after year, testament to the quality of our facilities and the hospitality of our members.
In terms of accessibility, our clubhouse is wheelchair accessible, and we also have changing rooms, a disabled toilet, and a fully fitted kitchen for the convenience of our members and guests.
Rink hire at Kings Park Bowls & Social Club is priced at 5. 00 per person, and this includes the use of bowls. Junior bowlers under the age of 16 can bowl for free when accompanied by an adult. If you don't have your own bowls, don't worry.
We have a selection of junior and adult bowls available for use.
For beginners who would like to experience the joy of bowling for the first time, we offer coaching slots with our club coach. The first two coaching sessions are free of charge, after which a nominal fee of 5 per session applies.
