James is the driving force behind iDance in Wellington. As the largest modern jive dance school in the city, iDance is your go-to spot whether you're just starting to dip your toes into dance or are looking to challenge your skills.
Every Wednesday and Thursday, iDance comes alive at St Mark's School Community Hall in Mt Victoria. Beginners kick off at 7pm, perfect for those still figuring out their left from their right. The 45-minute session is loaded with simple, fun moves, and afterwards, you get to test them out to DJ-spun tunes.
If you've got the basics down, James has you sorted too. The Newcomers Review class sharpens your initial steps, while Intermediate and Intermediate Plus classes up your game with more intricate moves and individual guidance. And if you’re keen to shake things up, the Outside the Box class keeps it fresh with unique techniques.
No need for advance booking – just rock up. At $15 for the night (or $10 for students), it's an unbeatable deal. Wednesday sessions run from 6:45pm to 10:00pm, and Thursdays from 6:45pm to 10:30pm. Keep an eye on events and updates by joining the mailing list on the iDance website.

We teach Modern Jive with classes designed for newcomers. Each class helps you learn four moves so you can dance full songs by the end of the night.
Come along on Wednesday or Thursday for your first night free. You can drop in any time, and you do not need to book ahead or bring a partner.
