WHAT IS THE TEACHING STYLE LIKE? SwimFit offers structured group swimming lessons for adults in Wellington Central. The lessons are designed to cater to individuals in all stages of their swimming journey, whether they are beginners or looking to improve on technique, speed, and fitness. They utilise a variety of skills, drills, and techniques to help swimmers build confidence, efficiency, and strength in the water.
HOW DO I KNOW WHICH CLASS IS BEST FOR ME? If you are new to swimming and have basic water confidence, the Breathing Clinic is recommended. This 5-week block focuses on teaching correct freestyle breathing technique and building confidence to swim 100m freestyle. If you already have a base understanding of swimming and want to progress to the next level, the Stroke Efficiency lessons are a good fit.
These 10-week classes focus on technique and building stamina. For swimmers who are confident with longer distances and want to work on speed endurance and strength, the SwimFit classes are recommended. If you are unsure which class is best for you, you can email SwimFit with your previous swimming experience and areas of focus, and they can provide a recommendation.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED? To participate in the classes, swimmers are required to bring their own togs, cap, and goggles.
WHERE ARE THE LESSONS HELD? SwimFit operates out of The Aquadome, located at Wellington East Girls' College in Mount Victoria. There is parking available right next to the pool on the school's netball courts. The Aquadome provides facilities such as toilets, changing rooms, and hot showers for swimmers' convenience.
HOW DO I BOOK? To book a class with SwimFit, you can email them or fill in an inquiry form on their main page. They will be in touch to arrange your booking. Depending on class availability, bookings may be accepted midway through the blocks, with fees prorated accordingly.
