Clare Gibson, the founder of Harmonyoga, has been teaching yoga since 2000. Her training began with the British Wheel of Yoga, and she further enhanced her knowledge by training with the Krishnamacharya Healing Yoga Foundation (KHYF), now known as the TSYP (The Society of Yoga Practitioners). Clare is a Senior Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance and a registered yoga therapist with the Complementary Natural Health Council (CNHC).
In her classes, Clare offers a range of yoga styles, including classic Hatha yoga, both dynamic and gentle, as well as yin yoga and restorative yoga. She is dedicated to considering the individual needs of each student and frequently teaches on a one-to-one basis, providing personalised instruction and guidance. Clare also mentors teacher trainees, sharing her wealth of experience and knowledge.
Clare's primary influence comes from the teachings of Sri Krishnamacharya and his son TKV Desikachar. She has practised yoga for many years and has explored different schools, including Ashtanga and Iyengar. To further her understanding and expertise, Clare continues her studies through workshops and seminars in both the UK and India. In 2021, she completed an MA in The History and Traditions of Yoga and Meditation at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies – University of London), learning from renowned academics in the field.
Harmonyoga offers a variety of classes, workshops, and yoga holidays to cater to different levels and interests. They are based in Surrey and have classes in Esher, Weybridge, Molesey, Walton-on-Thames, and surrounding areas. The studio also runs British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) Level 4 teacher training courses, including the 500-hour and 300-hour options, as well as BWY foundation courses. Their next Diploma Course is scheduled for 2024.
At Harmonyoga, they believe that progress in yoga goes beyond physical accomplishments. Flexibility represents an open mind, strength embodies integrity of character, and balance signifies peace of mind even in challenging times. By incorporating these principles into their teachings, they strive to help students truly practise and live yoga as it was meant to be.
