Groombridge Bowls Club

Groombridge Bowls Club, located in Groombridge, New Zealand, was established in 1919 and has been playing on their green at Back Lane, Gromenfield since 1937. This modern and fully integrated mixed membership club offers both friendly and league games to its members.

Groombridge Bowls Club warmly welcomes bowlers of all ages, and they provide woods for new starters who are looking to try the sport. The club takes pride in its in-club coaching facilities, which ensure that players are equipped with the necessary skills to excel in the game. The members of Groombridge Bowls Club come from Groombridge and the surrounding towns and villages on both sides of the Sussex/Kent border.

The outdoor season at Groombridge Bowls Club runs from April to the end of September, with some matches against indoor teams scheduled during the winter. The club organises approximately 50 mixed matches per year, which are primarily played on Wednesday evenings, Saturday and Sunday afternoons. On Tuesday evenings, the Green Grasshoppers teams participate in a local league, while on Thursday nights, the club competes in the Tunbridge Wells Triples league. Additionally, the club holds a 'roll-up' session every Monday for members to practise.

Throughout the year, several in-house competitions are also organised for members to showcase their skills.

Groombridge Bowls Club is dedicated to promoting and encouraging new players to join the sport, and as such, they host a free open day at the beginning of each season. This event allows individuals who are interested in lawn bowls to experience the game firsthand and learn more about the club.
