About

Gold Coast Victory Athletic Club, based in Gold Coast, has been a prominent athletics club since its establishment in 1969. The club boasts highly skilled and experienced coaches who specialise in various athletics events. Catering to athletes of all levels, Gold Coast Victory provides opportunities for individuals to participate according to their aspirations, whether that be making new friends in a healthy sporting environment, learning new skills, becoming fitter and faster, or engaging in local and Brisbane-based competitions. The age groups range from approximately 12 years to 20 years and above, determined by the athlete's age in the calendar year.

The club's committee members for the 2022-2023 term are as follows: Andrew Arkinstall (Farmer) as President, Robyn Wales as Vice President, a Secretary position to be advised, and Peter Hannan serving as Treasurer/Registrar. Additional committee members include Brett Green, Steven Rivett, and Ryan Sydenham.

Gold Coast Victory Athletic Club has a rich history. Initially known as Gold Coast Athletics Club, it underwent various changes in training venues over the years. These included Paradise Point oval, TAFE College oval at Benowa, and Miami State High School oval. In 1986, the club relocated its training base to Peter Hannan Athletics Track at Pizzey Park in Miami.

Currently, this track is utilised by Gold Coast Little Athletics Centre. In 1998, the Gold Coast City Athletics Track was established under a lease from the Griffith University Gold Coast. Situated in Student Centre Lane, Griffith University, Southport, this all-weather training and competition venue became the new training base for Gold Coast Victory Athletic Club in 1999. The club experienced significant growth during the 1999/2000 season, with membership reaching over 300 individuals at one stage.

In 2006, Gold Coast Victory Athletic Club merged with Victory Sports Athletics Club, officially adopting the name “Gold Coast Victory Athletic Club Inc” in July of that year. The track at the Gold Coast City Athletics Track underwent major reconstruction and resurfacing by the Gold Coast City Council in 2013. However, in 2015, the lease of the facility was handed over to Griffith University, and following the 2018 Commonwealth Games, the university took over management of the Griffith University Track Facility. This led to Gold Coast Victory Athletic Club accepting an offer from The Sports Super Centre at Runaway Bay to relocate their home base to the newly named Gold Coast Performance Centre in January 2020.

Throughout its history, Gold Coast Victory Athletic Club has seen several changes to its uniform design. From the girls' one-piece uniform shown in the club's archives, the club has adapted its appearance to align with evolving trends and preferences.

Gold Coast Victory Athletic Club prides itself on being a welcoming and inclusive sports club that provides excellent coaching and opportunities for athletes to excel in their chosen events.
