About

DharmaYoga is a prominent yoga studio located in Falmouth, New Zealand, that offers a unique and transformative experience based on the teachings of legendary Yogi Sri Dharma Mittra. Inspired by classical Eight-Limbed or Hatha – Raja Yoga, Dharma Yoga incorporates elements of flowing Vinyasa, inversions, and held poses to help practitioners discover deep healing relaxation and meditation.

Established in 1975 by Sri Dharma Mittra, Dharma Yoga is a comprehensive practise that aims to enhance flexibility, strength, balance, and concentration. Through the practise of Asanas (physical postures), the body and mind are toned and invigorated. Pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditative techniques regulate the heartbeat, de-stress the nervous system, and promote a state of calmness. Guided deep healing relaxation or Yoga Nidra is also integrated into the practise, providing stress relief, mental clarity, and physical rejuvenation.

Dharma Yoga is a practise that is both traditional and contemporary, making it suitable for practitioners of all levels in today's fast-paced world. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced yogi, DharmaYoga offers a range of daily classes, workshops, and a transformative Life of a Yogi teacher training programme facilitated by Sri Dharma Mittra and senior DYRTs (Dharma Yoga Registered Teachers).

Michael, the lead instructor at DharmaYoga, began his yoga journey with Sri Dharma Mittra in 2007 while living and studying acting in New York. As Germany's first accredited Dharma Yoga teacher in 2009, Michael brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience. Since moving to London in 2016, he has been teaching classes for beginners and advanced beginners, both in-person and online. Michael received his 500-hour Dharma Yoga Life of a Yogi Teacher Training (Yoga Alliance RT) Certificate in 2023.

In addition to regular classes, Dharma Yoga offers sessions at The Lodge Space in Canada Water. These sessions take place on Sundays from 11:30am to 12:45pm, Tuesdays from 7:00am to 8:00am, and Wednesdays from 6:00pm to 7:15pm. Students appreciate Michael's teaching style, as he genuinely cares about his students and their practise. His dedication to the transformative power of yoga is evident, and students find his classes to be a divine combination of techniques that bring about purity of heart, physical strength, perfect health, and mental and spiritual empowerment.
