
To take part. The minimum age for an exam candidate is 7 years for Grade 1. Ballet Grades 6 – 8 & Vocational Grades Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1 & Advanced 2 In these grades students will continue to develop their technique, strength, musicality, and performance skills. Pointe work and variations are introduced at these levels.
Examinations are available at each level, and it is the student's choice whether to participate. Adult Ballet classes Adult ballet classes are suitable for those with previous ballet experience or complete beginners. Classes focus on technique, flexibility, and movement quality, allowing participants to develop their skills and enjoy the art of ballet in a relaxed and supportive environment. Modern / Jazz Classes Modern / Jazz classes incorporate elements of contemporary dance, jazz, and lyrical styles.
Students will learn different movement qualities, dynamics, and techniques, while also exploring their own creativity through choreography. Tap Classes Tap classes focus on rhythm, coordination, and musicality. Students will learn various tap dance techniques and styles, with opportunities to perform and develop their skills through fun and energetic choreography. Taster sessions are available for all classes, allowing individuals to try out different styles and see which one they enjoy the most.
The Curtis School of Dance also offers a school show every two years, where students have the opportunity to showcase their talents and perform on stage. Additionally, the school participates in community events and pantomimes, providing students with further performance opportunities and a chance to engage with the local community.
