Alexandra Bowls Club

Welcome to Alexandra Bowls Club in Bath, New Zealand! We are a friendly and inclusive lawn bowls club that welcomes both new and experienced bowlers. Whether you are new to the sport or a skilled player, our club offers a supportive environment where you can enjoy the game and socialise with fellow bowlers.

Our club is managed by a dedicated committee, including our Green Manager, John Clifford, who ensures that our bowling green is well-maintained and provides the best playing conditions. Our Bar Manager, Tracey Anderson, takes care of our bar area, ensuring that members and visitors can relax and enjoy a drink after a game. Brian Webber serves as our Treasurer, managing our finances and ensuring the smooth running of the club.

We also have a Ladies Vice Captain, Tracey Anderson, who assists the Captain and steps in when necessary. Our club values inclusivity and gender equality, and we actively encourage female bowlers to participate and take on leadership roles.

Lawn bowls is a strategic and enjoyable sport, and at Alexandra Bowls Club, we offer various types of shots and deliveries to enhance your skills. The most common shot is the Draw, where players aim to deliver the bowl as close as possible to the target (the jack). We also have a glossary of bowling terms to familiarise yourself with the terminology used in the sport.

To excel in lawn bowls, it's essential to understand aiming points. Finding the ideal line to bowl on can greatly improve your game, and we offer tips and techniques on how to identify and maintain that line. Additionally, we provide player position guides for team play, outlining the roles and responsibilities of each player.

Etiquette is an important aspect of lawn bowls, and we follow certain guidelines to ensure a pleasant and respectful playing experience. While the official rules are outlined in the 'Joint Laws of the Game' booklet, we also incorporate unwritten rules of etiquette to enhance enjoyment for all players.
