Looking for a place to train, have fun, and be part of a community? Head over to Clayton Amateur Boxing Club in Accrington! John Brindle, our superb head coach, is here to offer you a supportive space with a range of boxing classes and personal training sessions. Whether you're looking to turn over a new leaf or just need a positive hangout, John's team is dedicated to making everyone feel at home.
John Brindle, by the way, spends his days helping vulnerable adults and his evenings coaching at the club. With over 70 kids training each week, he’s the heart and soul of the place, guiding everyone from novices to those aiming for a spot in the armed forces. The club has seen many success stories, including Ellis Nuttall, who bagged a national title and now runs her own club in Wigan.
Clayton Amateur Boxing Club is entirely volunteer-run and currently in need of a better venue and new gear. Our current spot? An old garage with no heating and a leaky roof. Martin Morley, another fantastic coach who’s also a self-employed joiner, is shouting from the rooftops about our need for funding.
We recently had a smashing Black Tie Boxing Event at Accrington Stanley's 1968 Lounge. Big thanks to Karen from Accrington Stanley – we even gave her a lovely bunch of flowers from the Victoria Flower Shop. We raised over £8,500 (cheers, VIP guest Camilla Ainsworth!) and received a generous £4,000 from the Mayoral Ball of Hyndburn.
Wanna get the inside scoop? Check out our videos online. You’ll see John giving a tour to Jesse McClure from Storage Hunters and hear from Mark Gaughan about his son Bradley’s fantastic journey with us.
So, if you're in Accrington and want to be part of something special, Clayton Amateur Boxing Club is the place to be. Join us and help keep this vibrant community project alive and kicking.
