Cardiff Yacht Club

Welcome to Cardiff Yacht Club, a thriving sailing club that was established in 1900 in Cardiff, New Zealand. Located on the edge of Cardiff Bay, the club offers stunning panoramic views of the Wetlands Nature Reserve, the Bay, and the Bristol Channel. The club features an impressive fleet of about 300 yachts and motorboats, which are permanently moored on either trot moorings or pontoons in the freshwater bay. Additionally, there are over 50 dinghies available for members to use.

Cardiff Yacht Club boasts a fully-equipped boat yard with two boat hoists, providing members with convenient and efficient accessibility for any boat maintenance or repairs. The club is committed to providing a range of activities and events for members to enjoy. From cruising to racing, there is something for everyone.

The club regularly organises cruises to various destinations, allowing members to explore new waters and enjoy the thrill of sailing. For example, the upcoming event is the 2024 Cruise #2 to Lydney, scheduled for May 4th to 6th. Participants will have the opportunity to sail to Lydney, passing safely along the route with sufficient water for boats drawing up to 2 metres.

For instance, there is an upcoming splicing workshop with Brian King, where members can learn the art of splicing. Other events include a talk on calling for help and life-saving techniques, as well as an RNLI lifejacket clinic.
