Located in the heart of St. Helens, within the old Capitol Cinema building on Duke Street. Capitol Squash has a rich history, with squash being played on the site for approximately 40 years. In 2013, the club changed ownership and is now run by its members, allowing for complete control over pricing structures and direction.
As a non-profit cooperative, Capitol Squash offers affordable and high-quality squash facilities to its members. The club features three well-maintained glass back courts, a lounge bar, showers, and a sauna. These facilities are available to members at any time that suits them, as the club never closes.
Capitol Squash is proud to have a thriving Junior Section, offering coaching from several Professional Squash Association (PSA) qualified coaches. The club fields 5 teams in the North West Counties Squash Leagues, providing competitive opportunities for its junior players.
Membership prices at Capitol Squash cater to both individuals and families. For senior males, the monthly membership fee is 25 or 260 per year, providing unlimited use of the club. Senior females and junior standard members pay 15 per month or 160 per year. Junior coaching-only membership costs 20 per month for Saturday mornings only, while junior plus membership includes Saturday coaching and costs 30 per month.
For family memberships, male adults with one child pay 35 per month, including a 5 per month membership discount. Male adults with two children pay 45 per month, also including a 5 per month membership discount per child. Family memberships with Saturday coaching options are also available at discounted rates.
Joining Capitol Squash is simple. Interested individuals can select their desired membership type and set up their standing order to the designated HSBC account. A request form is then filled out and submitted, with further contact and information about the online court booking system and access entry fob provided in a welcome email.

Capitol Squash is dedicated to the development and growth of junior squash players. The coaching team includes John Newton at Level 4, Liam Hunter at Level 2, Holly Bullen at Level 1, and Darren McCann at Level 2. The junior club meets every Saturday from 10am to 1pm, offering a development pathway that allows children to grow and improve as squash players while nurturing a love for the sport.
