St Helens Ju Jitsu is a highly reputable martial arts club located in Saint Helens, offering top-notch training in Ju Jitsu and Kobudo. The club was established in January 2006 by Sensei Brian Moore and Sensei Stephen Moore. Over the years, the club has expanded to include four classes across different locations, including a second class in St. Helens, a class in Appley Bridge near Wigan, and a class in Sefton Park, Liverpool.
Sensei Brian Moore, a 7th dan black belt, has dedicated his life to martial arts. He began his journey at the age of 9, training in Judo. In his late teens, he trained in Shotokan Karate before discovering Ju Jitsu in 1985. Since then, Ju Jitsu has become an integral part of his life, and he has attained the rank of 7th dan.
He is also an instructor in Krav Maga and teaches Kobudo at his club.
St Helens Ju Jitsu provides classes for both kids and adults. The kids' classes are designed for children aged 4 to 13, where they learn valuable self-defence skills and develop discipline and confidence. The adults' classes cater to individuals of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners.
There are numerous benefits of practising Ju Jitsu. Apart from learning practical self-defence skills, Ju Jitsu helps individuals gain confidence, build a sense of community, and leave their comfort zones. The discipline and dedication required in Ju Jitsu can transfer to other areas of life and contribute to personal growth. The club also emphasises setting goals, as Ju Jitsu provides a constant source of purpose by always having the next belt to work towards.
What sets St Helens Ju Jitsu apart from other martial arts clubs is their focus on community, individual-oriented training, and experienced instructors. The club offers a friendly and inclusive environment for all members to train in a supportive atmosphere and make lifelong friends.
To accommodate different schedules, St Helens Ju Jitsu offers classes on various days and locations. There are classes on Tuesdays at St. Teresa's, St. Helens; Wednesdays at the Unitarian Church in Liverpool; Fridays at the Appley Bridge Village Hall in Wigan; and Saturdays at the YMCA in St.
Helens.
