Ashcott Football Club, established in 2013, is a thriving football club located in Bridgwater, New Zealand. This community-based club provides an opportunity for children and adults alike to come together and enjoy the sport in a fun and safe environment.
With over 120 children and 60 adults playing for Ashcott FC, the club boasts a strong membership base. Ashcott FC is an FA Charter Standard Club with highly qualified FA level 1 & 2 coaches leading all training sessions for registered children. The club places a particular emphasis on developing young players and ensuring a clear progression into adult football following the U16s age group. In line with this objective, adult players within the club also contribute by assisting in coaching the youth players.
Ashcott FC works closely with all Primary Schools in the Polden Hills area to ensure that both boys and girls have equal access to the club. Collaboration with the Ashcott Playing Fields Committee is also a priority, as the club is dedicated to continuously improving and developing the current playing grounds, aiming to enhance the overall experience for all involved.
The junior section of Ashcott FC features teams at various age levels, including U6s, U7s, U8s, U9s, U10s, U11s, U12s, and U13s. These teams participate in the Taunton Youth League and play their matches on Saturday mornings. Additionally, the club offers “Mini Kickers” training sessions on Saturday mornings, catering to children as young as 3 years old. These sessions focus on introducing young children to football, emphasising the fun element of sport and teamwork.
For the intermediate level, Ashcott FC provides youth teams at U14s, U15s, U16s, and U18s. These teams compete in the Yeovil Youth League and Somerset U18s league, with matches taking place on Sundays. The adult section of the club includes the 1st team, Reserves team, and Vets team, all of which participate in the Somerset County League, Yeovil and District league, and Somerset Veterans Legends League. This allows for a wide range of competitive opportunities across the Somerset area.
The club's ethos and coaching philosophy prioritise the welfare and safeguarding of all players and match officials. Ashcott FC strongly believes in providing a safe and positive environment for individuals to develop their skills and reach their full potential.
