About
AikidoBC Vancouver is a dedicated Aikido club located in Vancouver, offering classes in the traditional Japanese martial art of Yoshinkan Aikido. Aikido focuses on using an opponent's force against them, employing joint locks, throws, and pins to overcome one or multiple opponents. Despite its gentle appearance, Yoshinkan Aikido is deceptively powerful when executed correctly, making it an effective form of self-defence that can be used without causing serious injury to the opponent.
The club offers classes for both adults and children, with children's classes designed for kids aged 6-13. Children are taught the basics of Yoshinkan Aikido, including movement, techniques, and break-falls. As they progress, older kids have the opportunity to learn basic weapons training. In each class, mental and physical development is emphasized, creating a safe and encouraging environment for kids to develop their skills at their own pace.
Older kids who reach a certain proficiency level may also join adult classes for more advanced training.
AikidoBC Vancouver offers flexible fee options for both adults and children's classes, with monthly and 3-month packages available. Family/group packages are also available upon request. Fees can be paid by cash, cheque, or e-transfer, and registration is done in person.
The club's class schedule at their Maple Ridge location combines adult and children's classes, with children's classes running for 1 hour. AikidoBC Vancouver is committed to providing high-quality Aikido training for individuals of all ages, helping students develop dexterity, timing, and balance while honing their self-defence skills in a supportive and engaging environment.
