Adogaday, a Yoga instructor in Brighton, is passionate about both yoga and dogs. Their love for yoga and their dog, Haku, has inspired them to create a unique approach to teaching and practising yoga. The name “adogaday” reflects their philosophy that even doing a bit of yoga every day can make a difference in one's overall well-being.
With over ten years of teaching experience, adogaday understands the challenges of finding motivation to practise yoga at home. However, they noticed how Haku would naturally move into a dog pose every day, which served as a reminder for adogaday to get on their mat. This realisation led to the creation of the mantra “A dog a day,” emphasising the simplicity and accessibility of integrating yoga into daily life.
Adogaday's classes cater to individuals of all levels and abilities. They believe that yoga is not just for flexible or fit individuals, but rather, it is especially beneficial for those who aren't already flexible or healthy. In their classes, the only requirement is the ability to get up and down off the floor. Adogaday ensures that there are always options and alternatives for different poses to accommodate various physical differences, injuries, or limitations.
As a Yoga instructor, adogaday aims to provide a holistic experience for their students. They encourage individuals to take time out from their busy lives and listen to their bodies. By doing so, students can begin to understand the language of their bodies, release tension, and undo unhelpful habits of movement. Adogaday guides students towards moving with more freedom, ease, and grace.
They also emphasise the importance of connecting with one's body, regardless of shape, and treating it with love and kindness.
Adogaday's classes foster an environment of respect and self-trust. They aim to help individuals grow in confidence and be curious about their own potential. With a gentle sense of adventure, adogaday encourages students to explore the world within themselves. Their classes provide a sense of calm and ease, offering a reprieve from the stresses of daily life.
In addition to regular classes, adogaday also offers workshops to dive deeper into specific aspects of yoga practise. They believe that focusing on the internal feel of the movement and how it manifests in one's own body is more important than striving to imitate others. A genuine interest in individual experiences and growth is at the heart of adogaday's teaching style.
