Shorinkan Shorin-Ryu Karate Australia is a prestigious sports club located in Sydney, Australia. With a focus on the traditional Okinawan style of Karate, this club offers a unique and enriching experience to its members.
The club aims to provide individuals with a meaningful purpose, focusing their mind and body to achieve peak karate skills and physical fitness. They believe in the power of Karate to instil discipline, confidence, and a sense of accomplishment in their members.
One of the notable events organised by Shorinkan Karate Australia is the Okinawan International Karate Tournament, which takes place in Okinawa, Japan. This tournament offers a captivating opportunity for participants to compete internationally and represent the club. Individuals holding the rank of Shodan can join the team, along with those who are currently ranked at 1st Kyu, as long as they can achieve their Shodan rank before August 1st, 2018. Age requirements state that participants must be 18 years or older.
The training programme developed by Shorinkan Karate Australia focuses on preparing the team for the tournament. In February and March, the training sessions will concentrate on renewing body conditioning, flexibility, strength, and stamina through kumite and kata practise. In April and May, the focus will shift towards sharpening kumite and kata skills. Lastly, during June and July, tactics and strategies for kumite and kata performance will be addressed.
All training will be conducted at their dojo in Collaroy, situated in the Northern Beaches of Sydney.
Apart from the tournament, being a part of the Shorinkan Karate Australia team also provides valuable insight into the rich history and culture of Okinawa. Members will have the opportunity to visit renowned institutes such as the Museum of Karate and Shuri Castle, further enhancing their understanding and appreciation of Karate.
Whether you are a black belt holder, a 1st Kyu rank, or a veteran looking to renew your training, Shorinkan Karate Australia warmly invites interested individuals or groups to apply. This could be your chance to step onto the international stage and compete at the prestigious Okinawa Karate Kaikan in Tomigusuku City and the Okinawa Prefectural Hall of Martial Arts in Naha City.
