Ruby 9 Yoga is a reputable sports club located in Perth, Australia. The club is led by Sally Riddell, a highly qualified Yoga Teacher, Yoga Therapist, and Vedic Chant teacher. Sally has received training from T. K.
V. Desikachar, his family, and the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Australia and Chennai, India.
In the tradition followed by Ruby 9 Yoga, yoga is seen as a holistic, practical, and experiential practise that respects the individual needs and abilities of each student. The club encourages every student to embark on a personal journey towards physical and mental health, as well as spiritual growth. Classes are suitable for all stages of life, ensuring that everyone can benefit from yoga practise.
The club offers a variety of classes on a weekly basis. These classes can be attended in person at the studio or virtually via Zoom. General classes are offered on Tuesdays from 6:15am – 7:15am and 9:15am – 10:15am. These classes focus on exploring yoga in a holistic sense, with an emphasis on the breath as the fundamental link between the body and mind.
Āsana (posture) is practised in coordination with breath, and various yoga tools are incorporated to enhance the experience.
For those who may find joining a general class challenging physically, mentally, or emotionally, the club also offers Gentle/Therapeutic classes on Wednesdays from 9:30am to 10:30am. These classes create a sensitive and respectful atmosphere, with gentle and adapted practises tailored to each individual's needs. Aids like chairs, bolsters, and walls are used, and ample time is provided for rest and reflection. Students are guided individually to practise in a way that suits them best.
In addition to weekly classes, Ruby 9 Yoga also hosts a monthly Vedic Chant Circle. This circle is dedicated to the chanting of Vedic mantras and takes place on selected Sundays from 10am to 12pm. It offers a unique opportunity to explore the ancient practise of Vedic chanting and its profound impact on spirituality and wellbeing.
Furthermore, Ruby 9 Yoga organises workshops and retreats throughout the year. These events provide participants with opportunities to deepen their practise and knowledge of yoga, meditation, and wellness. One such upcoming retreat is the “Pamper in Paradise” Yoga, Meditation, and Wellness Holiday in Bali, scheduled for June 2024.
To attend classes or book retreats and workshops, interested individuals can visit the Ruby 9 Yoga website. Various class passes and payment options are available to accommodate different preferences and schedules. It is worth noting that the studio currently adheres to social distancing rules, allowing up to six people for in-person classes. Therefore, early booking is recommended for those interested in attending classes at the studio.
Ruby 9 Yoga is dedicated to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for yoga practitioners at all levels. Whether in-person or online, students can expect personalised guidance, nurturing support, and a transformative yoga experience that promotes physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
