Physical Culture or Physie (pronounced ‘fizzy’), is a sport for girls and women of all ages, which aims to build confidence, good posture, body discipline, strength, fitness, and flexibility through dance. The syllabus is updated annually, is performed to modern music, and comprises standing and floor exercises, aerobic warm-ups, basic ballet, and modern contemporary dance. Our choreography is age appropriate, and is designed to teach the relationship of music to movement, rhythm, co-ordination, balance and musical interpretation.
Members have the opportunity to enter annual competitions. These are not compulsory but competing individually or as a member of a team does help to foster a strong sense of belonging, club spirit and loyalty. Competitions are held from July to November each year at club, interclub, zone, and national levels, with the Senior National Finals held at The Sydney Opera House at the end of each year.
North Rocks Physical Culture Club Inc is proud to be a registered club of the Bjelke Petersen School of Physical Culture.
Physie is a fusion of dance and sport that empowers girls for life.
