Are you the owner of YogAnnie?
YogAnnie, based in Biggar, South Lanarkshire, is a passionate and experienced Yoga instructor who offers gentle yoga classes to groups and bespoke one-to-one sessions that are tailored to meet the individual's health and emotional needs. With a focus on mindfulness, YogAnnie invites students to work with their breath and be aware of their thoughts without getting caught up in them.
In YogAnnie's classes, the emphasis is on how the body feels rather than its appearance, although this doesn't mean there is no physical challenge. Adaptations can be made as needed, and the main goal is to honour the body that each student is in at that moment. The classes also have a spiritual aspect, with YogAnnie inviting her students to experience surrender and stillness, bringing them closer to their whole and original Self.
Anne, the founder of YogAnnie, is a registered and insured Yoga teacher with Yoga Scotland, which is recognised as the Governing Body for Yoga in Scotland by sportscotland. With over 25 years of personal yoga practise, Anne completed a two-year teacher training course in 2018. She is also certified by the Yoga in Healthcare Alliance to deliver their ten-week early intervention programme called Yoga4Health, which has been evaluated for its effectiveness by the University of Westminster.
YogAnnie's teaching style continues to evolve as her understanding of yoga deepens over the years. She only teaches what feels genuine to her, drawing influence from a wide range of sources including Vanda Scaravelli, Donna Fahri, BKS Iyengar, and John Stirk. She is also inspired by Himalayan yoga, functional movement, and somatics. This eclectic mix of influences informs her teaching and is further supported by her own daily practise.
YogAnnie offers smaller-than-average class sizes, allowing for more individual attention and a safer space to explore and transform.
