At Yoga in Daily Life Ivanhoe, we aim to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone. Our classes are suitable for both beginners and those with some yoga experience, ensuring that everyone feels comfortable and able to participate. Our experienced instructor, Larissa, will guide you through each class and provide any necessary modifications or adjustments to ensure your safety and wellbeing.
Our classes are based on the authentic and traditional style of Yoga in Daily Life , which incorporates a holistic approach to yoga. Each class includes a combination of yoga exercises (asanas), guided breath work, relaxation, and meditation. Through these practises, you will not only develop strength and flexibility in your body but also experience deeper benefits on your nervous system, internal organs, and mind. Some of these benefits include reducing stress and anxiety, improving concentration, increasing vitality, and cultivating inner clarity and peace.
Classes run in term blocks, generally following the school terms. Bookings for the whole term are essential to secure your spot. Our venue, Room 1 at the Ivanhoe Library & Cultural Hub, provides a central, modern, and welcoming space for our classes. The room is carpeted, providing a comfortable surface for your yoga mat.
Additionally, the room is equipped with central heating and cooling to create a pleasant and comfortable environment for your practise.
Before attending your first class, we recommend arriving about 15 minutes early to meet Larissa, fill out a student participation form, and settle in. During the class, Larissa will guide you through the different yoga exercises, relaxation techniques, breathing practises, and meditation. It is important to inform Larissa of any injuries, pregnancy, or medication before the class, as precautions and modifications can be given to accommodate your needs.
To ensure a comfortable practise, we recommend wearing loose and comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement. Shoes are not permitted in the practise area, but socks can be worn if it is cold. It is also recommended to avoid eating a meal at least 2 hours before the class to prevent any discomfort during the practise. Please bring your own yoga mat, as well as a cushion and blanket for relaxation and meditation.
It is also encouraged to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the class.
Yoga in Daily Life Ivanhoe offers both term bookings and casual drop-in rates. Term bookings provide a more cost-effective option, while casual bookings allow for more flexibility in attending classes.
