Located in Mayfield, Newcastle, Yoga-dendrum is a welcoming and inclusive yoga studio owned and operated by Charlie Kirk. With a passion for helping individuals develop their own unique yoga practise, Charlie aims to provide a supportive and nurturing environment for both beginners and experienced yogis.
The name Yoga-dendrum is inspired by the Epidendrum (Crucifix) Orchid, one of Charlie's favourite flowering plants. Just like these plants, Charlie believes that with regular attention and care, our yoga practise can grow and develop into something beautiful.
Yoga-dendrum offers a variety of classes to cater to different needs and abilities. Charlie understands that some individuals may face challenges that make conventional yoga classes difficult, which is why separate chair yoga classes are available. These classes are designed to accommodate those with physical limitations and offer a modified approach to yoga practise.
The studio follows current NSW Health guidelines to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students. It is registered as a COVID-safe business, and all necessary precautions are taken to provide a clean and hygienic environment. Vaccination is required to attend classes, and students are advised not to attend if they are feeling unwell.
The class timetable at Yoga-dendrum includes a range of options to suit different schedules. Classes can be attended in-person at the Star Hall on Valencia Street, or virtually via Zoom for those who prefer to practise from home. Prior registration is required for Zoom classes, and newcomers or returning students are encouraged to contact Charlie before attending.
To enhance the yoga experience, yoga props are not required for the classes. However, if students previously used cushions for support, they are advised to bring their own. It is also recommended to bring a personal mat to class. Additionally, for the yoga nidra practise, students are encouraged to bring their own blanket for added comfort.
Payment at Yoga-dendrum can be made either by cash or EFT direct deposit, providing flexibility for students to avoid handling money if preferred. Charlie is always available to answer any questions or provide further information, so don't hesitate to reach out for assistance.
As an extra resource, Yoga-dendrum offers a variety of practises on YouTube, including guided meditations, pranayama exercises, and chair yoga sequences. These videos can be accessed through the Yoga-dendrum website or the Video tab on the social media page, giving students the opportunity to continue their yoga journey outside of class.
